United Nations Convention on Sustainable Development
Also known as Rio+20 or Earth Summit 2012, the UNCSD is the third conference on Sustainable Development. It followed the 1992 Earth Summit/United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED). UNCSD is the key forum for the consideration of issues related to the integration of the three dimensions of sustainable development: economic development, social inclusion and environmental protection. As such, its mandate is not limited to environmental issues.
The conference produced the nonbinding document, "The Future We Want", where heads of state of 192 governments in attendance (including the Philippines) agreed to the 27 principles intended to guide countries in future sustainable development and the commitment to promote a sustainable future. The document also reaffirms the previous Earth Summit (1992) outcomes, including the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development, Agenda 21, and Forest Principles.

- The Philippine Council for Sustainable Development was created through Executive Order 370 series of 1996 to integrate the principles of sustainable developement into Philippine national programs, policies and plans. The PCSD submitted the National Report on Rio+20 Conference in 2011.
DENR currently serves as the chair for the Committee on the Conservation and Management of Resources for Development, which focuses on the physical dimensions of the environment such as the atmosphere, biodiversity, water and land resources.
The United Nations Sustainable Development Summiy held on 25 September 2015 reaffirmed the global commitment towards sustainable development through the adoption of a new framework to guide development efforts from 2015-2030. The Sustainable Development Agenda 2030 sets the global priorities through 17 Sustainable Development Goals and 169 targets which cover the economic, social and environmental dimensions of development. Some goals directly related to the environment include, 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, 13: Climate Action, 14: Life on Water, and 15: Life on Land. - Latest Activites:
